AFTER CARE
After your tattoo is completed, your tattoo will be wrapped with a product called Saniderm. This will help protect your tattoo over the next couple of days through the plasma stage.
Leave the Saniderm on for 2 - 3 days. You will notice plasma build up under the adhesive, which is normal. Everyone heals differently, some might have a lot of plasma while others won’t. Don’t be alarmed by this! I recommend removing the Saniderm in the shower preferably towards the end, giving it some time in the steam and warm water so it’ll be easier to work up a corner and remove. Slowly peel back on itself with the hair growth until completely removed.
Once the wrap is off wash your tattoo with clean hands 2-3 times a day with mild unscented anti-bacterial soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or air dry. Use a small amount of unscented, dye free lotion like Lubriderm as a moisturizer after each time you wash.
Bactine is an antiseptic spray that has 2.5% Lidocane for numbing, this can help through out the healing process. (CVS, Walmart, Target) Ice packs can help with swelling or soreness.
While your tattoo is healing, 2-4 weeks, please do NOT:
Submerge your tattoo in any body of water, ie: bath, pool, lake, river...
Expose your tattoo to the sun.
Go tanning or to the gym.
**The most important thing to remember is to keep your tattoo clean and don’t pick at it. Your new tattoo will inevitably be itchy, but resist the urge to scratch! Pulling off the skin prematurely can cause the ink to fall out of your tattoo or may even cause scarring.
Healing time is different for everyone. It can take 2-4 weeks to heal completely.
There will be more information provided at the time of your appointment.
